Almost everyone I talk to has moments or even hours of slumps during the holidays. Remembering years past they see themselves as alone, lonely, or lacking resources they once had. Living in the moment cures many of these down times. When we notice a neighbor and give them a smile, we are reaching out and getting out of ourselves. In that moment, if we can notice what happened inside, there is a moment of connection, reminding ourselves that a person nearby was lifted up by our recognition of them.
In my dog walks I have gotten in the habit of waving to other dogwalkers and kids going to their school in the morning. Lately I've noticed a few are waving first! What a thrill to see that both of us actually look forward to the morning hi.
The other day I stopped and talked to a couple who had a similar dog to mine and we talked a bit about their sweet personalities. I learned their names and how they had gifted the dog to their son who was now in college. They were now official dogwalkers for their son's dog!
You will find creative ways to connect. As this company builds we will be sharing with one another how to cope with the aging phenomenon and lift one another up as we travel on this road together. Talk soon.
